MWL Nottingham hold its annual Mawlid un Nabi event


Alhumdulilah, On the 23rd of January 2016 Minhaj Women’s League (MWL) Nottingham held its annual Mawlid un Nabi event at the Bobbersmill Community Centre. It was also broadcast live on local radio.

The event was graced by the presence of Ustadha Fatima Mash Hadi President MWL UK and Sister Khadijah Atkinson.

The event was attended with great enthusiasm by both MWL members and non-members alike.

The Mawlid commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Sister Salma Rafiq (Secretary Membership Nottingham

This was followed by an address by MWL Nottingham President Iram Qaisar. Sister Iram gave a brief introduction on Minhaj Dawah Program (MDP) and Minhaj Welfare Foundation. Notable achievements of MDP include the distribution of the Holy Quran in over 18 prisons across the UK. She went on to explain the charitable work that the MWF is undertaking. These include the Education of All campaign. Aghosh, Bait-ul-Zahra, Hospitals and medical dispensaries, as well as response to calamities such as earthquakes and floods and the installation of tube wells.

Sister Kausar Yaqoob (Secretary Dawah) then spoke briefly and introduced the audience to several new publication of HSI Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.

This was followed by the recitation of very melodious Nasheeds by the extremely talented daughters of Sister Kiran (MWL Birmingham).

The Mawlid continued with Sister Khadijah Atkinson taking the podium. Sister Khadijah was the main English speaker at the event. Sister Khadijah’s speech touched on several significant points including the importance of celebration Mawlid-un-Nabi. She also spoke about the role mothers play in building the character of their children especially in light of the pressured faced in modern society. She elucidated that popular culture (Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc.), social media and the Television are leading to an erosion of Islamic values.

This was followed by an Inspirational and brilliant address by Ustadha Fatima Mash Hadi, The keynote speaker at the event. Ustadha Fatima emphasised the importance of Mawlid-un-Nabi. Remembrance of Rasool Allah reminds us of what is actually significant in the temporary world. She narrated many examples that illustrated how important and beloved Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is to Allah. Anything that Rasool Allah uttered was taken as the absolute truth. If Rasool has stated that Mecca was Medina, Mecca would now be known as Medina.

She also invited the women present to join Minhaj-ul-Quran and to donate in abundance to the good causes our organization has taken responsibility for.

Ustadha Fatima then led the sisters present in Zikr and recited Dua which formally concluded the Mawlid.

A delicious dinner was served for the assembled ladies. A bookstall has been set up to provide women with MDP literature. A large number of books were purchased and ladies also took advantage of the free literature that was distributed.

The Mawlid-un-Nabi was a great success that touched upon both the practical and spiritual elements of celebrating Mawlid-un-Nabi an event that can only serve to bring us closer to Rasool Allah and Allah and our final goal.
