MWL Nelson's Women’s Programme and Food Fest


The Women’s Programme and Food Fest, hosted by the Minhaj Women’s League Nelson, was held on Sunday the 15th of June 2014. The event took place in Silverman Hall, Pendle Street, Nelson and this venue was a large hall ideal for the purpose of a gathering of several hundred people. The MWL Nelson sisters were uniformly dressed in teal.

At the entrance Sister Nasreen Naeem (Vice President MWL Nelson), Sister Kaneez, Sister Sana (Secretary General MWL Nelson) and Sister Maria were welcoming guests and also registering the women from the league that had come to Nelson form other cities which included London, Manchester, Walsall, Accrington, Rochdale, Bolton and Burnley etc. Also in the foyer Sister Nahid was selling the books written by Huzoor Sayyedi Sheikh ul Islam Dr Tahir ul Qadri and Sister Zaida and Sister Nigat were selling tickets for a raffle to win an Umrah ticket. There were food stalls selling samosas, pakoras kebabs, chaat, hot and cold drinks crisps and chocolates and also a mehndi, face painting and loom bands stalls placed in the hall where everyone was seated.

The stage was decorated with the colours red, white and green with LED lights and hosting on the stage was Sister Nasreen (North President MWL UK). The programme was initiated with the melodious recitation of the Holy Quran by Sister Ghulam Fatima (President MWL Nelson). Qaseeda Burda sharif was read by Sister Khowla followed by a beautiful Naat of praise for the Holy prophet by Sister Anum Khalid. Sister Aizah and Rabia read a kalaam for Shaykh ul Islam and a Pakistani Naghma. Sister Asma (MWL Manchester) expressed her views on the current situation in Pakistan and then Sister Jabeen (President PAT UK) spoke about the 10 point agenda and about PAT and its mission.

Sister Mussarat (Secretary General MWL UK) made an address to the public regarding Pakistan and corruption and introduced Sister Fatima Mash’hadi (President MWL UK). She delivered an empowering one hour speech on giving in the way of Allah and motivated the public. Many people were impressed and effected by this emotional speech and donate generously towards the cause and some ladies also donated gold. At the end of this address the Umrah raffle ticket was drawn from a bucket and the event was concluded with a supplication by Sister Fatima Mash’hadi (President MWL UK) for the long life of Huzoor Sayyedi Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammed Tahir-ul-Qadri and for revolution in Pakistan.

Approximately four hundred people attended this event in the form of women and children. Upon exiting the building the ladies were asked to become members of Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
