On Friday 16th March 2012, a Youth Dhikr gathering was held at one of London’s top universities – the School of Oriental and Arabic Studies. The University’s Spiritual Dialogue Society invited MYL UK (London) to host the program. The program as a whole was a great success with distribution of Shaykh ul Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s books and DVD’s at the MYL Stall.

In addition, over 100 people signed the London Declaration and were informed of Shaykh ul Islam’s and Minhaj-ul-Quran International efforts for worldwide peace and solidarity between all faiths.

Students were very impressed with the gathering with two students declaring their love for Shaykh ul Islam and his contributions.

The gathering commenced with recitation of the Holy Quran by Brother Shoaib Akram followed by a Nasheed by Brother Umar Naveed. The Spiritual Dialogue Society gave an introduction to the University and their society as a whole.

The main speech was delivered by Brother Rafiq Patel. He focused his speech on Maulana Rumi and Islam’s strong relation with Tasawuf. Brother Rafiq also introduced and explained the process of Dhikr which is practised by the Muslims in the subcontinent and that this method had its link to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Dhikr was led by Brother Umar Naveed and at the conclusion the brothers and sisters gave positive feedback and MYL UK anticipates in future we will make efforts to build relationships with UK Universities and the wider student populace.
