[Monday, 18 January 2010] LONDON. Minhaj-ul-Quran International UK (MQI UK) agrees that such a major mosque should be a community project rather than by any individual group.

MQI UK spokesman Shahid Mursaleen said "If the mosque is built with the consensus of the community then it will appeal to people of different faiths instead of just for Muslims. This will encourage community leaders to build bridges between faiths and different communities." He added "We urge the Newham community to unite and support this as a 'community project' so that it can be ready for 2012."
