‘Shoot to kill’ policy unacceptable to Muslims

Media Coverage
24-07-2005 The event of July 21st was shocking and gave a clear indication that the British people are still not safe. The Muslims are shocked to see the shooting of innocent individual by the Police. We sympathise with the family of the innocent man who is killed. The solution of hunting terrorists is not to kill anyone pure on suspicion. The Muslims fear and are worried more after this incident. There should be a clear differentiation between extremists and average people using public transport. Effective eradication of extremism can be achieved when the British Government plays a major role in banning extremist organisations. Therefore, giving the right to kill anybody on the street pure on suspicion is dangerous itself. Therefore, the British Muslims reject the 'shoot to kill' policy as it’s unacceptable. The Police should be allowed to arrest the suspected people immediately rather than killing them on the spot. This policy is ‘non-humanitarian’ as the incident of killing an innocent man proves. Minhaj-ul-Quran’s officials will convey this message to Sir Ian Blair in the meeting on Monday. [ENDS]
