On the eve of the New Year celebrations 31st December 2011, MYL UK (London) held a New Year’s Dhikr evening with many distinguished speakers and nasheed performers.
The proceedings began with recitation of the Holy Quran by Brother Ahmad Raza followed by a Naat upon the Beloved Holy Prophet (S.A.W.).
The Program was hosted by Allama Abdul-Basit Al-Azhari and Brother Muzammel Rafiq. The participants were encouraged to focus on their inner spirituality and the relationship they have with Allah and his Beloved (S.A.W.).
Shaykh Muhammad Sadiq Qureshi Al-Azhari gave the audience the message of Minhaj-ul-Quran that it is an organisation solely promoting peace throughout humanity. Whilst explaining the London Declaration, he encouraged everyone to sign this declaration to tell the world that we stood against all forms of extremism.
A beautiful recitation of Qaseeda Burda was read by the young brothers from MYL and recited again by guests, The Tijani and Somali Munshids.
The event was rounded off by a speech by the main guest Imam Abdul Latif Finch (graduate from the Zaytuna Institute, USA). He said that we should all focus on Love and that Love encapsulated everything in the world in all living things. He advised that the best Love one can have is for the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.).
After the Dhikr gathering which ran into the new year of 2012; this was followed by Dua and the conclusion of the program where food was served to all participants.
