On the 12th of September some of the people from Muslim Youth League UK took part in the demonstration for the people of Syria. It was held in George Square and was organised by a member of the community.

The opening of the event was done by Scottish Cabinet Minister Humza Yousaf followed by the Somalian Ceremonial Drummer, Gameli. People lit candles, had a 2 minute silence and some songs to remember the refugees and that they are welcome in Scotland.

There were some poems by children and adults, followed by a song by John Lennon called ‘Imagine’ which the crowd listened to and joined in on. There was support from various organisations like the Scottish Refugee Council, Palestine Solidarity Campaign and many other organisations.

Shaykh Rehan Ahmed Raza al-Azhari attended the event
