Muhammad Rafiq Habib Al-Azhari, a graduate of Minhaj University Lahore, Director of Scottish Islamic & Cultural Centre (Jamia Masjid Bilal) Dundee, and General Secretary British Council for Islamic Guidance (BCIG) has recently completed his PhD from Al-Maktoum College for Higher Education Dundee, University of Aberdeen, Scotland UK.

Dr Habib Al-Azhari conducted his research on the thought and ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. The title of his thesis was "A Critical Analysis of the Ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with Special Reference to Islamic Revivalism". In this thesis he has examined, analysed and compared the ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with the ideologies of Imam Hassan Al-Banna, Sayyid Abu Al-A'la Maududi and other contemporary scholars.

Dr Habib Al-Azhari is the first Minhaj-ul-Quran scholar in the UK who has completed his PhD and he is first one ever to conduct PhD on the subject of A Critical Analysis of the Ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with Special Reference to Islamic Revivalism.
