MWL UK hold Irfan-ul-Quran Course in Rochdale

By the Grace of Allah Almighty and blessings of The Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) Minhaj Women League - UK (MWL-UK) organized a One day Irfan ul Quran Course for the Ladies from all over the North England. The Local MWL Responsible from Rochdale hosted this one day educational Course on 24th May 2015 at the Deeplish Community Centre in Rochdale, where more than 100 women and youth participated from all walks of life. The objective of this course was to develop a compassion for The Holy Quran, developing the ability of reciting The Holy Quran with correct pronunciation and ensuring the true link of a Muslim with The Holy Quran.

Sister Nasreen Akhtar (President – North Zone MWL) welcomed all, underlining that it was a fundamental responsibility for all Muslims to gain basic knowledge and awareness of Islamic teachings.

The event began with the exquisite recitation of The Holy Quran by Sister Nasreen, followed by a wonderful Naat/ Hamd by Sister Gulnaz and sister Naseem. A brief introduction of the course was presented by Sister Shaila (Sec Gen MWL-North Zone)

Assessment – 10.30 am

The Course Started with an assessment session, to determine and understand the level of all the students, after which workbooks in Urdu and English were handed out to all participants to begin the main sessions of the course.

Tajweed - 11:00 am

Sister Ghulam Fathima conducted this session, who explained the concepts of Tajweed and then explaining the basic Arabic Alphabet and its Sounds for correct pronunciation.

Tajweed – Group Practice 11.30 am

This explanation was followed by all students reciting the Arabic alphabet with correct pronunciations within small groups to better understand the pronunciation by reciting as well as listening to it. This format was highly appreciated by all participants.

Quran - 12:15 pm

The second session of the course was welcomed by Ustadha Fatima Mash’hadi (President-MWL-UK) with the introduction of The Holy Quran explaining in detail the linguistic meaning of The Holy Quran. She briefly talked about the revelation, (Wahi) of The Holy Quran through literal and practical definitions, she eloquently explained and recited five famous names of The Holy Quran as well as explaining the meaning of Tafseer for The Holy Quran.

Salat Zuhar & Lunch 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Fiqh - 2:00 pm

Taharah and Wudu was explained in the session of Fiqh, which was welcomed by Sister Mussarat Hussain ( Sec Gen MWL-UK) & Sister Summaiya Murtaza (Sec Info MWL-UK) who elaborated on the topic of Wudu in the light of The Quran and Hadith, highlighting the 4 compulsory acts of Wudu. This session was practically demonstrated to all of the members present which was highly appreciated by all.

Surah Al-Fatiha 3:00 pm

The final session was the translation and explanation of Surat Al-Fatiha and Hadith which was conducted by Ustadha Fatima Mash’hadi. She briefly explained the importance of the exquisite Surah of The Holy Quran, how this Surah is given many more different names from which, 6 particular names were highlighted. She also highlighted the spiritual benefits of this Surah and that this Surah is also a blessing for those who are unwell.

Ustadha Fatima Mash’hadi also elaborated on the importance of ‘root words’, basic contents which make up letters used in The Holy Quran, this helped the participants to further understand the meaning of what is written in Surat Al-Fatiha, she explained every word of Surat Al-Fatiha, showing the participants how glorified, and merciful our creator is which touched the souls of all who listened. She also elaborated on the mission of Minhaj-ul Quran, to follow the straight path, to change your ways of thought towards selflessness and piety, cleaning your souls. The assessment papers which, given at the beginning of the course were re-issued to all the students, where they could reflect on what was learnt.

Certificates were rewarded and accepted by all participants, followed by a heart-warming and spiritual

The course was concluded by Ustadha Fatima Mash’hadi thanking all who participated and contributed to the organisation of this course. It was ensured that feedback is taken to improve this event for future.

May Allah Almighty give us more strength and ability to deliver such wonderful events for the community and strengthen the link of Muslims with The Holy Quran.
