MQI Nelson holds a Meena Bazaar for local Community

On Sunday 3rd August 2014, Teachers and students of Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson held a Meena Bazaar and fun day for young children and ladies. The event was held at Minhaj-ul-Quran Educational Centre, Carr Road from 2:00pm- 6:00pm and was organised by teachers of Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran, Tahira Basharat, and Naushaza Fiaz. It was a great success, with hundreds of people from the surrounding areas in attendance.

There were a wide variety of activities organised for adults and young children. For the youngsters, there were games including pass the parcel, musical chairs, raffles, competitions face painting and Mendhi stalls. There was also a bouncy castle, which was a great success as many children enjoyed playing on it for hours.

For ladies there were over 15 stalls, which were selling clothes, children’s toys, frames, jewellery, Loom bands and food and drink.

There was also participation and support on the stalls from many members of Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson, as well as senior evening class students from Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran, Brunswick Street: Jasmine Ahmed, Samavia Hussain, Sana Saeed Butt, Nimra Khan, Ismah Mehmood, Hassana Mirza, Salihah Anjum, Fawziyah Hayat, Sana Iqbal, Nida Ajaz, Mariam Hussain, Ammaarah Sajjad, Ammara Ahmed, Amina Ahmad and Sana Iqbal, all helped with the event by holding stalls and helping in running the event.

The event was deemed a great success, as hundreds of people attended and thousands were raised for the poor people of Pakistan. Sister Tahira congratulated and thanked all the volunteers for their support and prayed for their success. It is hoped that similar events will be held in the near future.
