On the 12th of June 2014, the Women's League of Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson hosted annual Shabe-e-baraat mehfil at the Minhaj-ul-Quran Centre in Nelson. This mehfil was hosted by Sister Saima who is the dawah secretary for women’s league. Approximately two hundred participants in the form of women, girls and children attended the mehfil. The programme was initiated with tilawat from the Holy Quran by Sister Ghulam Fatima. And was then followed by two naats by which one was recited by Sister Anum.
We then played Shaykh-ul-Islam’s speech for one hour on a projector which was regarding Shabe-e-baraat. Next we then read namaz tasbeeh together in a jamath. After prayer was made we then switched the lights to do a zikar mehfil which lasted 30 minutes.
The mehfil was concluded with invoking greetings and salutations on the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and then a dua by Sister Nasreen Naeem. When the women were leaving they were given nayaaz (rice which was packaged) to take home with them and leaflets were also handed out to advertise a fundraising event which was held on the 15th of June in Silverman hall which was organised by Minhaj Women’s League.
