On Sunday 21st February 2016, His Eminence Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri (President Supreme Council MQI International) visited Minhaj-ul-Quran Nelson as part of their UK tour. A number of other local jamaats including Burnley, Accrington and Blackburn also attended the event. It was a rare opportunity for members to sit in his company and gain insight into organisational affairs and post questions to leadership. Dr Hassan Qadri was accompanied by EC President Syed Bukhari Shah Sahib, EC General Secretary Moazzam Raza, Director MQI Bradford Abdul Saeedi Sahib, President EC North Abdul Qadir Sahib and Dr Zahid Iqbal.

The event began with a short informative speech by Dr Zahid Iqbal and the launch of Al-Hidaya 2016. Dr Zahid advised members that the event was now open for bookings and this year will focus on developing ‘future leaders’ who are able to lead our Minhaj centres in the future and also participate fully in democracy and politics. He said the event would include interactive workshops and much more.

Dr Hassan Qadri then delivered his keynote speech on the topic of ‘knowledge’. He said knowledge was a light a ‘noor’ which upon entering the heart enlightens the individual and affords the feeling of being alive. He said as long as knowledge is alive and remains in the heart, that heart can never be a dead heart. He said the mission of Minhaj-ul-Quran is to provide you with a heart that remains engaged in the remembrance of Allah. He said the person whose heart is attached to the mosque will be given a special shelter by Allah on the Day of Judgement and he quoted Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s saying that “live in this world but don’t let the world live in your heart”. He said it was important to sit in the presence of Oliya Allah because when they utter knowledge then that knowledge becomes blessed and becomes a source of enlightenment for that individual.

Dr Hassan Qadri concluded his speech by saying that Minhaj-ul-Quran is a blessing, it is a route to success and connects one directly to Hazrat Ghaus al-Azam Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani (ra), so remain steadfast and committed to Minhaj-ul-Quran. He told members that the time they give to Minhaj-ul-Quran is blessed so they should maintain a balance in their lives between work/home and the Minhaj mission. He emphasised that members should fill their lives with pious acts and Zikray Mustafa (pbuh) and help educate others.

After the conclusion of his talk, Dr Qadri met members of each tanzeem who provided an overview of activities and events taking place in their respective tanzeem Dr Qadri appreciated the efforts of all members and offered further direction and guidance.  Dr Qadri was invited to cut the Qaid day cake which was enjoyed by all attendees.
