On Saturday 13th February 2016, Minhaj-ul-Quran International Nelson held their Annual Gyarnvi Sharif Mehfil at Jamia Masjid Minhaj-ul-Quran, Brunswick Street, Nelson.
The mehfil was hosted by Qari Zahid-ul-Rehman Qadri Sahib & Allama Nauman Al-Azhari Sahib and commenced with the beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Zahid-ul-Rehman. A number of local Naat Khawans attended the event and recited Naats and Manqabaths in honour of Syedna Ghaus al-Azam Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani (ra). These included Syed Faiz Rasul Shah Sahib, Junaid Hameed Saab, Gulstan Saab, Haji Mumtaz Saab and Mohammad Khan Saab.
The main guest speaker was Director of Minhaj-ul-Quran Birmingham, Allama Riaz Ahmed Qadri Sahib. Allama Sahib commenced his speech by thanking his hosts for inviting him and emphasised how such roohani mehfils where the name of Allah and his Rasool (pbuh) are mentioned are blessed with the presence of angels.
Allama Sahib spoke about how throughout time Allah has sent key people for the guidance of mankind. In the past these were the Prophets (Ambia), but since the last Prophet (pbuh) had passed away this responsibility had now fallen to the Awliya Allah and Ulema Karaam to provide leadership and direction to the Ummah. He stated that there are five key qualities that an Aalim must possess including Knowledge of Quran / Hadith, Thaqwa, Adalath (justice), dislike for worldly possessions and preparation for Aakhira (Day of Judgement). He said the individual who possessed the best of all these qualities was Hazrath Ghaus al-Azam Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani (ra) who was both a Mofasir and Aalim of the highest order and possessed incredible knowledge. Shaykh Abdul-Qadir would lecture on 13 different topics each day and each year 3000 Aalims graduated from his university. He said no Aalim can achieve the Seal of Sainthood (walaiyath) without the approval of Hazarth Ghaus al-Azam and no mureed of theirs will die before performing Thoba. Allama Saab concluded that a person whom on seeing reminds you of Allah is in fact a Wali of Allah.
Qari Zahid-ul-Rehman led the Isha prayers and Allama Riaz Ahmed Qadri performed Dua. Langare-Ghosia was provided too all attendees.
