On Saturday 1st September 2012, from 12pm - 5pm, Muslim Youth League UK Sisters Huddersfield held their 'Eid Fundraising Bazaar' at the newly built Thornton Lodge Community Centre to raise funds for the projects of MYLUK-S and to celebrate Eid with the Huddersfield community. Being MYL-S Huddersfield's first event it took place after two months of preparation, organisation and meetings. The team spent a lot of time promoting the event and used a variety of avenues to spread the message including the local radio, word-of-mouth, social media, texts, and posters were put up in various shops, stores, boutiques, take-away’s, restaurants and the ladies gym.

Alhamdulillah, with the blessings of the most Beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, there was an absolutely fantastic turnout with over 350 people in attendance! The hall was packed full with sisters, aunties and children.

The MYL-S Huddersfield team set up many stalls and guests were spoilt for choice. The stalls included mehdni, face painting, food & drink, cupcakes & cakes, slush, popcorn, chocolate fountain, sweets, clothes, bags, beauty treatments and fun activities for children. There was also a MYL-S Disperse stall which had soul-melting books and DVDs of Shaykh-ul-Islam.

There was a registration table outside the main hall and attendees were asked to register and sign the London declaration prior to entering the hall. There was a 50p entry fee upon arrival and all participants were given a raffle ticket. Attendees were also given details of the MYL-S study circles that take place in Huddersfield on a fortnightly basis and a link to the website 'deenislam.com' where they can access various lectures of Shaykh-ul-Islam.

Special guests, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, also attended and people were eager to see them and take pictures. They were a big hit not only with the children but the adults too! The event also included a Nasheed and Hijab competition; the winners of the Nasheed competition were; Umar Javed, Farah Mazhar and Imaan Hussain, and the winners of the Hijab competition were; Hirah Mazhar, Annum Hussain, Imaan Hussain and Mayah Qaiser. Participants won beautiful calligraphy, sweets in bespoke packaging, gift set and a voucher for three Raja special pizzas.

Towards the end of the event, the raffle was drawn and the following prizes were won; lovely hampers, personalised candle, gift set, a teddy and an abaya. There was also an auction for a yummy MYL-S Huddersfield cake, freshly baked by Fine Bakers.

Alhamdulillah all the participants thoroughly enjoyed the event and had a fantastic time whilst singing along to the nasheeds that were being played; MYL-S Huddersfield's first event was definitely worthwhile as a phenomenal amount of £1,350 was raised!

MYL-S Huddersfield would like to convey their deepest gratitude to everyone who participated and did an amazing job on and prior to the day, including the whole team (especially MYL-S member Aisha Javed), all the members’ families, the helpers, participants, and the generous sponsors and donators. Also a special thank you to uncle Maqsood Akhtar for coming all the way from Rotherham to help with the event. We pray to Allah the Most High that He accepts everyone's efforts and gives us all immense blessings. May  Allah the Most High, give us the ability to carry on working for the mission of Minhaj-ul-Quran International together as a team and keeps us steadfast. Ameen

A very huge congratulation to the whole team of MYL-S Huddersfield on such a successful first event from MYLUK Sisters!
