The New Year Midnight Dhikr is a gathering that is organised annually on New Year’s Eve. This project was launched in 2008, and MYL-S Halifax has been holding these New Year Midnight Dhikr’s for the past 4 years.

Within this gathering the concept of repentance, sins and forgiveness are discussed. Sisters reflect upon the previous year, which has passed, and ask for forgiveness for mistakes, which were made.

Life after death is reflected upon and discussed and then a lecture clip of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is watched and discussed. When the clock hits 11.40pm all sisters start the Dhikr of the Almighty! And go into the New Year with the ZIKR of Allah Almighty. This is a very spiritually uplifting gathering!

On 31st December 2011 the MYL-S Halifax team organised their 4rd Annual New Year Midnight Dhikr. The gathering commenced at 10pm and finished at 1am. Sisters gathered together for a night of reflection and change. A short talk was delivered regarding our priories in this world, what are the youth after? What is our focus? And the main message was ask Allah for forgiveness for our sins before it is too late, there was also a group discussion on how to gain the love of Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him). Sisters were moved and touched but the naat and durood shareef recitations. After a thought provoking group discussion the sisters gathered for a Dhikr of the Almighty at 11.40pm and went into the New Year reciting the name of the Almighty. A video clip by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri’s was watched and the blessed gathering ended with Salaam, Dua and food.
