MYL-S Halifax & Halifax High School host their first ever ‘Peace and Unity Event 2012’

On Friday 27th January 2012 MYL-s Halifax teamed up with local school, Halifax High At Wellesley Park to host the first ever ‘Peace and Unity Event’. The afternoon consisted of a variety of different acts taking place with an audience of approximately 200 people.

 

The event started with an amazing Junk Band performance by some of the students of the school; and welcoming remarks along with a short introduction to the event was conducted by two senior students, Farah and Rosemeen. They welcomed and thanked MYL along with the special guest Milad Raza Qadri for coming into the School.

The MYL presentation delivered by MYL-s member, Safyah Akhtar included an introduction to the founder, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and outlined our aims and objectives. It finished by a short video clip of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on the topic of Peace and lastly informing the participants about the large-scale ‘Peace for Humanity’ conference that took place at Wembley Arena and the launching of ‘The London Declaration for Global Peace and Resistance against Extremism’.

Brother Milad Raza Qadri then took to the stage and after a few words of expressing the importance of signing the London Declaration; he gave his first amazing performance of the day. This followed on by the first round of acts in the competition between the students of the school. Student Isaak recited Durood upon our Beloved Prophet SAW, Student Brandon sang a beautiful english Nasheed ‘Mountains of Makkah’, followed by student Harris reciting the Hamd ‘Karam Karam’. Then came the time for Milad Raza Qadri’s second performance, with his unique voice, blend of melodies and background music he moved the audience and had everyone clapping in unison!

Then, the second round of acts for the competition consisted of a group of Year 7 and 8 girls reciting one of Milad Raza Qadri’s new track ‘Ya Nabi Ya Nabi’, followed by year 11 girls singing Durood and a Nasheed upon the Prophet SAW. The last two acts were Mehvish with a breath-taking voice singing a Naat about the Holy Prophet SAW and another senior student reciting the Naat ‘Jannat may laykay jaaey gee chaahat Rasool kee’. This concluded the acts that performed for the competition.

Milad Raza Qadri then gave his last remarkable performance, leaving the audience wanting to hear more of his Nasheeds. The winner of the Competition was decided by the judges’ panel, which consisted of Milad Raza Qadri, Mrs Nellis (Head Teacher), Mrs Proffit (Music Teacher) and Mr Iqbal (Teacher). And the winner was announced to be student Mehvish, she was awarded flowers by Milad Raza Qadri and one of his new Naat CD.

The school then thanked Milad Raza Qadri for coming by giving him flowers and the closing remarks were made my Mr Tague, thanking all those involved in making this event such a massive success and he hoped to see everyone again next year!

As the participants left, they visited the MYL stall which consisted of free leaflets, English translations of the Holy Quran by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and Milad Raza Qadri’s CD’s. They also signed up for the London Declaration; there were a total of 164 signatures for the London Declaration collected at this Peace and Unity Event 2012.
