Like every year the women league Bradford organised an annual 12 day Mawlid mehfils in the celebration of the Prophets’ birthday. These mehfils started on the 1st of January 2014 to 12th January 2014. The mehfils were held consecutively for 12 days during the morning from 10-12. These mehfils are different to normal mehfils because each day was organised by a different group of people. The group that would organise the event would be the ones to organise the food for that day. This report will discuss all 12 events with detail and who the organisers were.
Minhaj-ul-Qur’an Bradford Women’s League had the pleasure of hosting Muharam program for sisters in the name of Imam –e – Hussain and his family. The program was held on Sunday 10th November 2013 at 2:30pm. The attendance of the women was approximately over 200. This report will highlight some of the activities that took place on the day, with reference to the special guests from Nelson.
Monday is an extremely blessed day of the week; the day when the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) was born, so what better day to start the weekly Dhikr Mehfils in remembrance of Allah and His Beloved Prophet than on Monday.
On 19th August 2013, Minhaj ul Qur’an Bradford began its weekly Dhikr Mehfils with a bang! People from cities all over travelled to Bradford on Monday night to remember Almighty Allah, leaving all their worldly activities behind, in the hopes of attaining spiritual pleasure. The Idarah was buzzing with men, women, young, elderly and children; Allama Adeel Qasmi started the Mehfil with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and several verses of Durood Sharif.
Muslim Youth League Sisters of Bradford won “The Big Challenge2012”organised by the Bradford council on Saturday 6th October 2012; in an attempt to increase diversity and multi cultural interaction between various communities in Bradford. This was indeed a great effort to bring together a diversity of people, from different walks of life and cultures and put them in teams, the team members were to eventually build confidence and trust in each other, learn new skills and also meet new people from different walks of life and make friends!
With the grace of Almighty Allah and the blessings of Holy Prophet Muhamamd (Peace be upon Him), Minhaj ul Qur’an Bradford successfully held its second Dhikr Mehfil. The mehfil commenced with the Tilawat of Surah ash-Sharh:
“And We exalted for you your remembrance (by annexing it to Ours everywhere in the world and in the Hereafter). So surely ease (comes) with every hardship.”

Allah (SWT) says:
‘My servant! If you remember Me in privacy, I will also remember you in privacy; And if you remember Me in an assembly, I will also remember you in an assembly which is better and greater (than your assembly)’
MYL-S Bradford felt extremely privileged to have been invited to an evening lecture with Curator Qaisra Khan on Wednesday 5th September 2012 at the University of Bradford. The University of Bradford hosted an evening with Qaisra Khan who came especially from London to deliver an insightful talk on her display at The British Museum. The exhibit that took place less than six months ago was an attempt at providing the London community with a taste of the Islamic culture.
