On Sunday the 1st of November, MWL Walsall held an event which was truly enlightening - the feelings that were felt at the event were ineffable.
The calming and soothing sounds of The Holy Qur'an were recited impeccably by Sister Sidra Bi; followed by the graceful and rewarding words of Hamd - The Hamd was recited by Sister Zahra Hussain. Sister Sadia Bibi read aloud a Naat in her harmonious voice, it was a delight to the ears of all.
Sister Yasmin Hussain delivered a speech in English on Sayyidah Zainab (RA), she talked about her blessed character and carried on to explain many events which occurred during the battle of Karbala; the sister explained things such as what happened in the latter stages of Karbala, she talked about how the Prophet’s (SAW) family was deprived from water and the mass murder that took place. Due to her (Sayyidah Zainab RA) honesty, bravery and truthfulness Islam spread through Shaam. Then they were released from prison, Bibi Zainab (RA), along with the rest of the members of Ahlul Bayt (AS) went to Medinah. Even in Medinah she continued preaching. Islam spread rapidly, the governor of Medinah became very frightened and wrote to Yazid that Bibi Zainab (RA) was in Medinah and was spreading Islam quickly and that she would break his empire. Yazid gave orders that Bibi Zainab (RA) should leave Medinah and settle in a village outside Medinah. Later on from there she was sent to a town called Misar, which is in Egypt. She continued spreading Islam there aswell. Yazid became very scared so he once again ordered that she be taken prisoner and brought to Shaam. When she arrived at a small village on the boundary of Shaam she remembered where Imam Hussein (AS) head had been kept on a farm under a tree. When she found the tree, she started crying. A man of Shaam, who was a follower and friend of Yazid, saw her and hit her with a spade on her head. She collapsed and died. That is how this small town came to be known as As-Syed Zainab. According to historians, Bibi Zainab's husband - Abdullah Ibne Jafar-e-Tayyar bought the surrounding land and made the Rauza/Ziyarat especially in the name of Bibi Zainab (RA).
Sister Shahina repeated this speech in Urdu so that all members of the audience could enjoy what Sister Yasmin narrated.
Manqabat was read by Sister Aleena Munir and Salaam was read by Sister Rani Hussain.
Sister Mussarrat Hussain promoted Minhaj Welfare Projects such as: Water pumps, shelter for the poor and went on to explain the tragedies of the recent earthquake that hit Pakistan and the ways we could help.
The night was concluded with a Dua which was read so beautifully that it brought tears in every eye.
