On the 29th December 2015 , our lovely Sister Rehana Ishtiaq ,a member of Minhaj Women League of Alum Rock B’ham held a Mawlid at her house to commemorate The Birth of The Beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ PBUH. May Allah (SWT) bless Sister Rehana Ishtiaq and her family with health and barakat.

Sister Rehana Ishtiaq was an amiable host, warm welcoming and ensured the celebratory atmosphere was maintained throughout. The merry atmosphere was maintained with numerous light-up ornaments displayed throughout the house. Young Mominah Fatima recited verses from The Holy Quran, then many of the Sisters recited a variety of Naats and participated in the Mehfil to lighten the atmosphere. There was also young girls who recited Nasheeds in lovely melodious voices. Sister Rukhsana Parveen MWL (President of Alum Rock B’ham) said a few words about why we should celebrate Mawlid and she said we should also start telling our children and grandchildren at a very young age about Mawlid. She suggested ideas such as giving Mawlid cards to children, buying new clothes for the day and cooking feasts just like we would for Eid celebrations.

The Mehfil was concluded with Dua by Sister Rabia Khanam MWL (Welfare Secretary of Alum Rock B’ham) and Salaam by Sister Shazia Parveen MWL (General Secretary of Alum Rock B’ham). She recited a few verses of salaam-‘Mustafa jaane rehmat pe laakhoun salaam’ written by the mujaddid of the last century Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelwi.

Then, delicious Asian dishes were served.
