Alhumdulillah, with help of Allah the Almighty and His Beloved Prophet Muhammed (SAW) a monthly gathering was held on the 6th of December 2015, at Minhaj-ul-Quran Naseby Road Alum Rock Birmingham.

Sister Shazia started the Mehfil by reciting Surah Fatiha from The Glorious Quran followed by Durood Paak by Sister Rukhsana Iqbal MWL (Dawah Assistant) and Naats by Sister Shaheen Akhter MWL (Media Secretary of Alum Rock B’ham) and Sister Amina.  We also had a young girl named Momina Fatima recite a Nasheed.

Sister Rukhsana Iqbal MWL (Dawah Assistant) did the tafseer/ tarjama from The Holy Quran. She told everyone that Allah Almighty says in The Quran that you can’t change anything from The Holy Quran, like you can’t change something from being unlawful to being lawful, only Allah can do that. Sister Rukhsana then went on to explain that alcohol is haram, however may you participate in it, whether you sell it or work in a shop where they sell alcohol, or even serving it to customers. It’s best to find yourself another job rather than take haram earnings home.

Sister Shaheen Akhter MWL (Media Secretary of Alum Rock B’ham) delivered an English speech which had a very simple message behind it, The moral of the speech was the importance of remembering Allah Subhan WaTala all the time always , thanking Allah Azwajal whether you are happy or in a difficult situations and always remembering to say Alhamdulliah (appreciating Allah).

Sister Amina Ishtiaq delivered an excellent English speech about companions, as man cannot live alone in this world without companions. When the Prophet PBUH was sent to this world he had companions to help him spread Islam. Prophet Muhammed SAW said it’s important to have good friends as this helps you to stay on the right path.

Sister Rabia Khanam MWL (Welfare Secretary) delivered an excellent speech in Urdu on Awliyah Allah. Some of the important points to note were - it is said that the best amongst you are those who keep good company and he who fears Allah the world fears him. She also reiterated that it’s very important to believe in Awliyah Allah and doing so in important in the Sunni school of thought.

There was also a short story on how someone asked Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (RA) how a man who was an alcoholic was forgiven by Allah. Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi(RA) explained that the alcoholic man had one day found Allah Subhan WaTala’s name written on a piece of paper, he picked it up and took it home and put perfume on it. Allah Subhan WaTala was so pleased with him that he forgave this man and put him on the right path .Awliyah Allah are like medicine for spiritually sick people, they help you and guide you on the right path.
